Frequently Asked Questions

Care built around your whole self

Everything you need to know before your first consultation.

  • In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the tongue is viewed as a reflection of the body's overall health and internal balance. During a tongue evaluation, a practitioner observes the tongue's color, shape, size, moisture, texture, coating, and any variations or markings.
Different areas of the tongue are traditionally associated with different organ systems and aspects of health. These observations can provide valuable information about patterns of imbalance within the body and are considered alongside other aspects of a Chinese medicine assessment, such as your symptoms, health history, pulse, and overall presentation.
A tongue evaluation is a gentle, non-invasive part of a comprehensive Chinese medicine assessment. It can help your practitioner better understand your individual pattern and guide a personalized approach to supporting balance and well-being.

  • Iridology is an observational assessment that involves examining the patterns, colors, markings, and variations within the iris of the eye. Practitioners who use iridology believe that these visual characteristics may offer insights into an individual's overall constitution, areas of strength or weakness, and patterns of imbalance.
Clinically, iridology may be used as one component of a broader holistic assessment. Observations are considered alongside a person's health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and other assessment methods to develop a more individualized understanding of their health and wellness needs.
Iridology is non-invasive and involves simply observing the eyes with appropriate lighting and magnification. It is intended as a complementary assessment tool rather than a method of diagnosing disease or replacing conventional medical evaluation. Its purpose is to help identify areas that may benefit from greater attention and to support personalized wellness recommendations.

  • No. Tongue evaluations and iridology are complementary wellness practices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions. They're used alongside your intake to help build a broader picture of your overall wellness.

  • Just take your tongue and iris photos in natural daylight if possible, without makeup or tongue coatings from food/drinks beforehand, so the observations are as accurate as they can be. Full instructions are provided after booking.
